In Luke 10, we discover the beautiful paradox of Christian life: being both sent on mission and called to sit at Jesus' feet. Jesus appointed 72 followers not because they earned it, but because they belonged to Him. Our joy should be rooted in our relationship with God, not in our accomplishments or results. True compassion flows from experiencing Christ's love firsthand, as illustrated in the Good Samaritan parable. The story of Mary and Martha teaches us that being with Jesus must precede doing for Jesus. Everything in our spiritual life—our identity, joy, compassion, and service—flows from knowing Christ.
